Event Highlights

As Canada’s green building industry continues to make progress towards its goal of carbon neutrality, the role of refrigerants and their use in heat pump technology has become an increasingly important issue for project teams to consider. High Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants have the potential to significantly contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, making their management and ultimate phase-out a critical aspect of any decarbonization plan. Green building rating systems, including CAGBC’s Zero Carbon Building Standards, are increasingly offering guidance and even limiting the types of refrigerants that can be used in projects pursuing certification.
Join us for a deep dive into the future of refrigerants as we explore low-GWP solutions and their role in the decarbonization of Canada’s built environment. As part of CAGBC’s Accelerating to Zero Podcast Series, this live conversation will explore the role of codes and standards, such as CSA’s B52, play in driving greater adoption of low-GWP and A2L refrigerants, the importance of their adoption for meeting the industry’s goals, the practical challenges facing adoption, and the opportunities and challenges presented by the standardization of rules and regulations across various jurisdictions.
