Introduction to Thermal Energy Demand Intensity
DURATION: 1 hour
1 GBCI general education hour.
This course is part of the Zero Carbon Building Micro-Credential - Essentials badge pathway. Click here to find out more.
Thermal Energy Demand Intensity (TEDI) is a key consideration for any project - especially when it comes to energy use, occupant comfort, cost savings, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction. As Canada moves towards achieving its carbon reduction goals, one thing that buildings owners and tenants will want to consider is their TEDI metric. The lower the metric, the more thermally efficient the building.
This course will explore what thermal energy demand intensity (TEDI) is, the importance of it in relation to operations and cost savings, as well as the key drivers that impact it. The course will also touch on the relationships between TEDI, embodied carbon, and resilience.
This course is taught by Kristen Yee Loong of RDH Science Inc.
