Introduction to the Zero Carbon Building Standards

DURATION: 1 hour

This course is the first requirement of the Zero Carbon Building Micro-Credential - Essentials badge pathway. It is the on-demand version of the Introduction to Zero Carbon Building Standards webinar. Click here to find out more.

Buildings account for a significant proportion of our national greenhouse gas emissions profile, making the design and operation of low-carbon buildings a priority in meeting national targets. CAGBC's Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) standards are a made-in-Canada framework that makes carbon the new measure of building innovation.

In this introductory course, participants will gain clarity of what constitutes a Zero Carbon Building, the pivotal role of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and sustainable design elements of the ZCB-Performance Standard and the ZCB-Design Standard, as well as the broader implications of certifying buildings as Zero Carbon for sustainability.

Participants also learn about the guiding principles, requirements, and the process of certifying a building as Zero Carbon.

The course provides participants with an overview of the framework and key dimensions for the ZCB standards.
